Michael “Mick” Patrick Mulroy is the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for the Middle East. As the DASD, he was responsible for defense policy for 15 countries and represented the Department of Defense of national policy in that area. He is also a retired CIA Paramilitary Operations Officer in the Special Activities Center and a United States Marine. Mulroy is also a Senior Fellow for the Middle East Institute, an ABC News National Security Analyst, and a Co-founder of the Lobo Institute.
Mulroy is a Board of Director for Grassroots Reconciliation Group & Co-founder of End Child Soldiering . He is also the Co-creator of the documentary
“My Star in the Sky,” which portrays the true story of child soldiers in the LRA.
Mulroy is a volunteer for the theThird Option Foundation and is a leading proponent of the U.S. military incorporating the official Stoicism philosophy into their ethical and resiliency efforts.

Opoka’s story as a former soldier, reaches beyond Uganda. “The United Nations said it has doubled in the Middle East in the last two years, and it is something that spreads from the Far East in the Philippines to South America and a lot of concentration in Africa….child soldiering needs to be addressed, because no adult should be ok with children fighting the wars that they start.”
